Vision - Model - Mission

Vision

We're creating a new wood culture in Germany.

Model

Wood is the raw material of the 3rd millennium, and Germany`s forests boast the largest reservoir of timber in Europe. They represent the basis of "Cluster Forst & Holz", which provides some 1 million jobs in Germany alone. Due to the incomparable ecological balance of wood and timber products and the great diversity of application possibilities, the increased use and implementation of wood is a matter of central significance for climatic protection, job security and sustainable development in Germany. Increased wood use domestically and abroad additionally ensures the maintenance of our indigenous forests, thereby reinforcing their positive applications and the benefits for society as a whole.

Mission

Inform - Communicate - Motivate: These are the central tasks of the German Timber Promotion Fund as a marketing facility of the timber industry.

Domestically, we support the objective "Charta für Holz" ("Charter for Wood"); this charter aims to increase per capita wood consumption in Germany from the current value of 1.1 m3 by 20 percent to 1.3 m3 by 2014. The content-related focus of the German Timber Promotion Fund orientation is the segment, "Building, Dwelling and Living with Wood", emphasising all of the associated application and implementation opportunities for products made of domestic softwood and hardwood.

Image building, information and the positioning of timber as a modern, effective and inherently problem-solving material for building and other uses are focused on creating a new "wood culture" in Germany. The communication measures are directed toward selected target groups that are relevant for sales. In doing so, these measures build on wood's positive image values and address existing information deficits and/or traditional reservations regarding questions of wood's use and application. Simultaneously, Cluster Forst & Holz is clearly positioned in its currently underestimated significance as an economic factor in relation to society and opinion leaders.

For marketing abroad, the commitment of the German Timber Promotion Fund is aimed at developing and further expanding new markets by profiling the capabilities of wood as a renewable building and work material on the one hand, and of the German forestry and timber industry in general on the other.
